2020 Police Interceptor Utility

Ford rolled out the first “Police Package” as far back as 1950.  In 1951, the first official “Interceptor” name was placed on a 110HP flathead V8 engine.  They’ve come a long way since then.

The new 2020 Police Interceptor Utility is based off of the Ford Explorer.  Just about everything in the vehicle has been geared towards law enforcement.  This new model comes with a 3.3L V6 Hybrid that produces 318HP.  It will do 0-60 in 7.3 seconds with a top speed of 137mph.  And it gets a combined fuel rating of 24mpg.  That’s not too shabby for a 6,800lb SUV.

A good chunk of these vehicle’s lives are spent idling.  The Hybrid technology will help minimize fuel costs and will save an estimated $5k per vehicle each year!  There’s all sorts of other cool features including ballistic door panels!  Check out the video above for more details.

You can get a pretty good deal on retired Interceptors at auction.  $1,000 would make a nice starting bid!  Follow this link to enter to win!  https://idrivefast.com/sweepstakes/
